About this site
Welcome to nerpa.tech! My name is Oleg, and this blog is where I share my thoughts, designs, and experiences in electronics, programming, and the often-overlooked space where the two intersect. Here, I document my projects—both completed and in progress—and discuss how I approach design, building, and troubleshooting.
This is actually my second attempt at running a blog. If the site feels oddly familiar, you might be experiencing déjà vu: I used to blog elsewhere some time ago, and this is a continuation of that journey.
I’ve been involved in electronics design on and off for over 30 years, working in both Russia and the United States. My areas of focus include microcontrollers, measurement systems, and power supplies. Lately, I’ve been diving into wireless communication, home automation, solar-powered circuits, and robotics.
A while ago, I began thinking more seriously about how to improve the quality of the hardware and software I create. Along the way, I discovered a surprisingly effective technique I call the confessional method of debugging. It involves explaining your problem to someone else: the mental short-circuit is often resolved simply by verbalizing it. Somehow, routing the problem through the brain’s speech and hearing centers triggers insight. I later found that writing about the issue works even better.
That’s where this blog comes in. I realized that by writing about the design process as it happens, I could replicate that same clarity—and maybe help someone else facing a similar challenge.
Whether you’re here to learn, troubleshoot, or just follow along, I hope you find something useful or inspiring. Thanks for visiting, and feel free to reach out or share your thoughts—I’d love to hear from fellow tinkerers.
